Major League Baseball released their 2020 season schedule to fans yesterday, with teams rolling out their individual schedules on social media. The Astros were no exemption, revealing the opponents they would play throughout the shortened 60-game season.
The season kicks off at home on July 24th against the AL West rival Seattle Mariners, a day after the league's official opening day special. The four game set notably leads into a two game set at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the latter game on the 29th being aired on ESPN primetime.
The Astros' next primetime game will be aired on FOX as they take on the other Los Angeles team, the Angels, on the first of August. It will be the Astros first visit to L.A. since the cheating scandal broke out, though it is unknown how many fans will be in attendance, or even if they're allowed at all. The rest of August features a slate of familiar foes, such as the Oakland Athletics, while also including outer-league opponents from the NL West like the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and San Francisco Giants.
The final month of the season in September will kick off with the Astros' first series against the in-state rival Texas Rangers, which will be played at Minute Maid Park. The Astros will play the Rangers ten times during the month, which includes their final series of the regular season at the newly-constructed Globe Life Field. Other games of note include a brief stop in Los Angeles for the conclusion of the split four-game series against the Dodgers, with the two September games being played in Dodger Stadium. The first game of that series on September 12th will be aired on FOX, and will be the Astros' fourth and final national TV appearance for the regular season.
